By means of two vertical stair sculptures, both a separate section on first floor (mini apartment/office) and the basement (e.g. A surplus of circulation allows several accesses from the outside and thus offers different possible divisions of the house. This task is solved within the basic structure of the house. The project in the north of Berlin responds to the requirement to allow simultaneous occupancy by different user groups in addition to its use as a single-family house. A different, attentive and thoughtful approach to what is there, preserving natural resources and perpetuating the qualities found as a new spatial experience. The installation can be found in the park which was designed by Lenné and is initially intended for a one-year installation period.

Fakt's designer Thiemich views tradition from the present, and so has updated the past using today's tools and techniques with intelligence and cunning.įakt consists of ten weights of roman and italic designs, built around three widths. It is a well behaved child but also a clever one, respectful of its sanserif parents while bringing them new joy. The result is a double design that in each style is well balanced and refined.įakt is a child of its time, offering choices efficiently and in an accessible way. Switch between options and letter shapes are subtly changed, altering Fakt's mood. Instead, it offers a stylistic 'toggle' – to put it crudely: Helvetica-like or Futura-like. Fakt combines the best of each – of grotesk and geometrical sanserif traditions – but not by mere interpolation. Released in 2010, it is Theimich's second commercially released typeface, following his humanist sanserif Alto.ĭifferent from Alto, whose design speaks of the 1990s, Fakt revisits archetypal sanserifs of earlier decades: Neue Haas Grotesk / Helvetica (the 1950s) and Futura (the 1920s).
